Short From Above is a professional photography, videography, and drone services company based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. We provide visual content services for families, couples, trades professionals, and small businesses across the Greater Toronto Area.

Information We Collect

We only collect information you voluntarily provide. This includes:

  • Your name and email address when you fill out our contact form
  • Your phone number if you choose to provide it
  • Details about your project or shoot requirements
  • Any photos or files you send us as references
  • Payment information processed securely through third-party providers — we never store your card details

We do not collect any data automatically beyond standard web hosting logs which are retained briefly and used only for security and performance monitoring.

How We Use Your Information

Your information is used only to respond to your inquiry, schedule and coordinate your shoot, deliver your final photos or videos, process payment, and follow up after your session. We do not use your information for unsolicited marketing.

Your Photos & Content

  • Your final edited photos and videos are stored securely for 30 days after delivery, then deleted
  • We will never share, sell, or license your photos to any third party without your written permission
  • If we would like to use your photos in our portfolio or on social media, we will always ask first
  • We will never post photos of children without clear parental permission
  • Before-and-after trade content used for marketing will only be posted with your approval

Email Communications

All email communication is handled through Zoho Mail, a privacy-focused business email service. Your emails are transmitted and stored securely using industry-standard encryption. We do not sign you up for any newsletters or marketing lists without your explicit consent. Zoho Mail's privacy policy: zoho.com/privacy.html.

Third-Party Services

  • Zoho Mail — email communications
  • Formspree — contact form submissions. Your data passes through Formspree's servers before reaching our inbox. Privacy policy at formspree.io/legal/privacy-policy
  • Google Fonts — website typography (no personal data collected)
  • Netlify — website hosting (standard server logs only)
  • Google Business Profile — business listing and reviews
  • Instagram / Meta — portfolio and social media presence
  • Google Analytics — anonymous website analytics (pages visited, time on site, general location at city/country level). This data is aggregated and cannot identify you personally. Google Privacy Policy. You may opt out at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout

We do not use advertising trackers, Facebook Pixel, or any third-party remarketing tools on this website.

Cookies

This website uses cookies set by Google Analytics to collect anonymous visitor data such as pages visited, session duration, and general location (city/country level). These cookies do not store personally identifiable information.

We do not use advertising cookies, remarketing pixels, or any form of cross-site tracking. The only other cookies that may be set are strictly necessary technical session cookies from Netlify, required for the website to function.

You can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time without affecting your ability to use the site. You can also opt out of Google Analytics tracking at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Data Retention

  • Inquiry emails and project communications — kept for 2 years, then deleted
  • Invoice and payment records — kept for 7 years as required by Canadian tax law
  • Delivered photo and video files — kept for 30 days after delivery, then deleted
  • Any data you ask us to delete — removed within 30 days of your request

Your Rights Under Canadian Law

As a Canadian business, we comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable Ontario privacy legislation. You have the right to know what information we hold, request a copy, ask us to correct or delete it, withdraw consent at any time, and file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. Email us and we will respond within 30 days.

Your Consent & CASL

By submitting our contact form, you provide express consent for Short From Above to contact you in connection with your inquiry. Your information may be shared with trusted third-party services (Formspree, Zoho Mail) solely to process and deliver your message. This consent satisfies the requirements of Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) for commercial electronic messages sent in response to your request.

We will only contact you for purposes directly related to your inquiry. We do not add you to any newsletter or marketing list without separate, explicit consent.

You may withdraw your consent at any time by emailing info@shortfromabove.ca with the subject line "Unsubscribe" or "Remove my data." We will action your request within 10 business days.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. We will not reduce your rights without clearly notifying you.
